There's No Light at the End of the Tunnel...Those Are Just the Brake Lights of the Cars Blocking Your Way

Testing, testing...is this thing on?

Oh yeah, I'm so funny. Har. Dee. Har. Har.

So life is still happening.

At this point I am mostly going through the motions, trying desperately to keep up without a hope of getting ahead. The To Do List keeps being put aside for the same errands that will require doing week after week and meanwhile any progress on the future is oxidizing with neglect.

Is there an end in sight? Maybe.

For about a year I have been not so patiently waiting for a transfer to a tower which is just about half the distance from my home than the tower I'm currently commuting to. I am technically not scheduled to transfer until June, however I have been advised that I may be able to get that moved up to January.

!!!

The transfer couldn't come soon enough. My enthusiasm for the 15-20 hour a week commute waxes and wanes with the season (and the variation between 15 and 20 hours). I am currently at a waning (read whining) stage. More than ever in my life I understand how rush hour traffic jams turn into shoot outs. (Its ok, I don't have a gun and have been cleared to point airplanes at each other by various medical professionals.)

There is a kernel of fear that the transfer will not improve things. The few extra hours of time in my schedule will be spent the way a raise gets devoured by all those expenses that didn't seem to exist before the money did, leaving the budget with the exact same pathetic balance as before.

On the other hand if I spend one more morning staring at the glowing red parking lot they call 205 I will probably require institutionalization. Here's hoping they let me out by Christmas.

So I'm Blogging Now?

Wandering the internet on my lunch break (when I should be running from zombies...) I rediscovered this here blog that I set up but never actually posted to.
So lets try this thing out.
I've been blogging on Weight Watchers for over a year now and I really love it. I get to express myself far more eloquently than I can in speech and share my thoughts, fears, joys...with anyone bored enough to actually check in on me. Sometimes I even feel like I'm good at it. The thing with my WW blog is that it feels like I should try to apply all of those thoughts, fears, joys...to weight loss. I know its not mandatory, however the more often I stray from the obvious topic the more I feel like I'm just babbling nonsense to people who are too nice to tell me to get over myself. Perhaps this blog will give me an outlet for my not so weight related neuroses.

If anyone chooses to read this who doesn't already know who I am, where I live, and what I did this Saturday I'll start with a little intro piece.

ME
I'm an Air Traffic Controller. That's just about the most interesting thing about me so I should probably stop there, but don't worry, I like to ramble.
I'm gorgeous and oh so humble (it gets funnier than that, but also less funny so bear with me...)
I live in California, which I like to brag is the best place in the world, mostly out of a desire to irritate some friends from Texas who once made it quite clear that the rest of the country doesn't actually care about what its like in California, how California does things, what laws California has passed recently and what any particular Californian thinks about those laws...Texans can be super cranky. Anyway, since I enjoy sharing this private joke with anyone and everyone no matter if they are in on the joke, I'm letting you in on it now so that when I make some random "California is the best place in the world and the rest of the country is just jealous because they don't live here" joke, I'm probably not being serious...even if it is true.
I like ellipses...I know that I'm not alone in over utilizing this wonderfully versatile grammatical tool in my blogging, however I thought it worth mentioning.
...
I commute 3 hours a day. Yeah, I think I'll end on the second most interesting thing about me, and if you think that's not really very interesting, now you know what to look forward to for the rest of my blog. Thanks for stopping by.
